Commencing Monday, February 22nd our gutter crews will be back
on the roads installing NEW GUTTERS to replace those
that got pulled down during the storm. If you need to
replace your gutters, we suggest emailing us your
information and digital photos so we can speed up the
estimating process. If you have trim, drywall, paint,
wood trim or roofing damage our crews are here to help
and our estimating staff can expedite the process. We
have standardized and simplified our estimates to help
reduce the processing time for your insurance companies. We will gladly work through your adjustors to resolve
your claims. Again we suggest an email format to
commence the dialog and serve as a basis for you, your
adjustor and our estimators to use to communicate and
work with one another.
Thank you in advance for the opportunity to be of
service and please contact us at 703-430-4420 at our
office or at

Thank you for trusting us to assist you with your
emergency services.
This past week Gutterman Services has made an all out
effort to quickly respond to the emergency service needs
of our customers throughout the Northern Virginia area.
We
have over 15 crews engaged in this effort and have done
our best to respond as soon as possible to the needs
generated by the recent snows and severe weather
conditions. Under difficult conditions this also demands
the highest regard for individual safety, and we have
tried our best to provide excellent, and wherever
possible, immediate service. Over 95% of our customers
have experienced IMMEDIATE RELIEF from the efforts we
have made. If you are in the category that still needs
additional work, we are still here to help, and will
assign supervisory staff to address your additional

We have charged what we consider to be reasonable rates
for these services and know they are well below what
most others are asking. We always try to do right by our
customers and believe we have priced our services
accordingly during this extremely demanding period. If
for any reason, however, you have any concerns regarding
our efforts, please contact us by email to
sara@guttermanservices.com.
We, as always, appreciate any thoughts you may have on
how we can better serve you.

What are ice dams, how they occur and
what YOU can do to fix them
We are dispatching two man crews into Northern VA to
remove the snow from the bottom 3-5’ of the roof edge.
At the same time we put snow and ice melt in the gutters
to promote the gutters thawing out as quickly as
possible. The chemical snow melt is biodegradable and
should not stain the roof shingles. The most difficult
part of getting this work done is getting to you
(getting our trucks down your street and our long
ladders up to your hours and against the roof edge).
Ice dams are created as the warm air rises through the
peak of the roof and melts the snow. Snow and ice pile
up on the bottom edge of the roof where it is coldest.
As the melted snow and ice pile up on the bottom edge of
the roof, the very best resolve is to clear the bottom
2’-3’ of snow off of the roof and try to expose the ice
dam to the sunlight. Until we arrive to remove the snow
and ice we suggest cooling off the rooms effected by
turning down the thermostat, cracking a window or
running a fan to cool off the area as quickly as
possible.
If a gutter is hanging off the home or ready to fall, it
should be removed so that it does not cause more damage
to windows, shutters or siding. Frozen gutters can weigh
up to 20 pounds per linear foot - so a 20 foot length of
gutter weighs as much as a refrigerator. Our crews are
ready to tackle our emergency needs so give us a call
today.

Ice Dams
Worried that you might have an
ice dam?
Ice dams are caused by heat escaping from your
home. When ice dams get too large the gutter
will pull away from your home and come crashing
down. The sun melts the ice dam which will then
cause water to creep into your soffit and down
thru your siding. Once inside, the water can
travel from room to room.
We have crews standing by ready to inspect and
secure your home.
Follow these informative links to find out what
ice dams are and what you can do to prevent them
from damaging your home.
EMERGENCY SNOW REMOVAL - HOW TO DETECT
IT AND WHO CAN FIX IT
DETECTION:
Icicles are the first indication that
you may have an ice dam. Snow and ice
accumulation on the bottom of your roof
edge can create very serious conditions.
The gutter is frozen solid, the roof has
the least amount of insulation at the
edge and we have a lot of snow! Ice
accumulates under the snow pack and
creeps under the shingles and then hits
the inside temperatures of your attic
and melts - creating indoor leaking!
WHO CAN FIX IT! CHECK OUT YOUR
SNOW REMOVAL CONTRACTOR AS WELL AS HIS
PRICE.
As many of us are finding, emergency
snow removal is not only expensive but
dangerous! Know your contractor and be
sure they have specified workman's
compensation insurance. Reputable
contractors can and will fax or email
you a certificate of their insurance
before they start your job. Contractors
insured to work on ladders pay higher
insurance premiums and they charge more
depending on the degree of liability
involved in your job. You get what you
pay for and in times of hazardous
conditions - lt is generally best to
leave dangerous work to the experts.
Gutterman Services does have emergency
service crews on the road this week to
help you as needed!
